Larkin Poe Announces Fall U.S. Outing In Support Of Debut Album, Kin, On Rh Music

Upcoming Dates Include Los Angeles’ Hotel Café (October 21),
Atlanta’s Terminal West (October 24) And NYC’s Mercury Lounge (October 29)

Elvis Costello Taps Larkin Poe For Additional European Dates

Kin Set For Exclusive Release At All RH Retail Stores On October 14,
Followed By Wide U.S. Digital And Physical Release on October 21

Larkin Poe will celebrate the U.S. release of their full-length debut, Kin, with a fall outing that kicks off on October 21 in Los Angeles at Hotel Café and includes a hometown CD release party at Terminal West in Atlanta, GA (October 24) and a show at New York City’s Mercury Lounge (October 29). Prior to the U.S. run, the duo will tour Europe with Elvis Costello, who has once again asked Larkin Poe to join him as both his opening act and backing band. “They have a head start on the rest of us with the unique power and beauty of sibling harmony,” observed Costello. See below for itinerary.

With Kin – produced by Chris Seefried (Fitz and the Tantrums, Lana Del Rey) in Los Angeles and Damien Lewis (Rihanna, Rita Ora) in Atlanta – sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell explore their rich family history and the impact it has had on their own psyches. The band takes its name from their great, great, great, great grandfather, Larkin Poe, who was a Civil War wagon driver turned historian and a distant cousin to Edgar Allen Poe. The album will be available for purchase on CD at all RH retail stores beginning on October 14 – a week prior to its October 21 wide release by RH Music in digital and physical formats. Larkin Poe will play a pair of invitation-only openings at the new RH stores in Los Angeles (October 22) and Atlanta (November 23).

Kin was greeted with stellar reviews upon its release in the UK last month. Uncut marveled at its “sinewy blend of lap steel, electric guitar riffs, blunt rhythm and their tightly knit vocal harmonies.” The Express said, “It’s a stunner” and awarded the album five stars while The Telegraph praised Larkin Poe’s “snappy vignettes of tough love.” Delving into the songs, The Guardian noted, “Jesse is a startling and powerful story from their family history, while Overachiever is a thoughtful, finely sung, piano-backed ballad.” Renowned for their live shows as well, Larkin Poe was named by The Observer as the “best discovery” at the 2014 Glastonbury festival.

“‘Don’t,’ pulls from rock’s earliest days, mixing it with a stomping glam rock beat and a country-inflected pop melody, ”said Entertainment Weekly, which premiered the single HERE.

“We were full of piss and vinegar on the day that we wrote ‘Don’t’ – it’s our girl-power anthem,” says lead singer/guitarist Rebecca Lovell, 23, who also plays mandolin and violin.

“Being able to shred on electric guitar and slide guitar is a strong part of our identity,” adds Megan Lovell, 25, who contributes lapsteel, dobro and vocals. “’Don’t’ gives us the opportunity to muscle-out in overdrive for three minutes.”

Larkin Poe has won admiration from such artists as Sugarland’s Kristian Bush, who recruited the sisters to back him when he performs on NBC’s “TODAY” on October 27. They also joined Dawes in backing Conor Oberst on “Late Show with David Letterman” and at a pair of high profile summer shows.
